Virginia State Trooper Andrew D. Fox

Foxtail Orchards Cabins and Campgrounds, LLC is owned by Matthew & Amy Ratliff and their family. It is located on Rt. 16, in Tazewell County, VA, also known as The Back of the Dragon. The cabins and campground started as a vision of Matthew's and the name was chosen to honor his lifetime friend, and fellow trooper, Andrew D. Fox.

Trooper Fox was killed in the line of duty on October 5, 2012, in Hanover County, VA at the age of 27 years old. Fox had been a Virginia State Trooper for 7 years at the time of his death. Andrew and Matthew had been friends most of their lives, from about the age of 5. The two decided early on they were going to be State Troopers and both attained that goal.

The first cabin, is named in honor of Trooper Fox, The Fox Den. The Fox Den is decorated in a manner that represents Andrew, with his favorite sports teams, his occupation, and his life. When one stays at the Fox Den, it is our goal that they go away feeling that they knew Andrew, and will know a little about the outstanding young man he was. Each additional cabin constructed will be named respectfully representing a fallen law enforcement officer, and a fallen military person, from the Tazewell County area.
